Mr Rhino Studios ("Mr Rhino Studios", "we", "our", or "us") operates the Vanik mobile application ("Vanik", "App", or "Application").
This Privacy Policy explains how information is accessed, stored, used, processed, and shared when you use Vanik, including information processed by third-party services integrated into the App.
Vanik is a business and bookkeeping application designed around an offline-first architecture. Core bookkeeping functionality does not require ordinary bookkeeping records to be stored on servers operated by Mr Rhino Studios.
Depending on the features you use, you may choose to enter or create the following information in Vanik.
This information is generally stored locally on your device and is not routinely transmitted to Mr Rhino Studios.
Vanik stores its core business and bookkeeping information in a local Room/SQLite database within Android's application-private storage.
The local database is not encrypted with a separate database-encryption layer such as SQLCipher. Protection of locally stored information therefore relies in part on Android's application sandbox, device security, and the security mechanisms of the Android operating system.
Vanik does not routinely upload ordinary customer records, ledger entries, invoice records, inventory information, or business profile information to servers operated by Mr Rhino Studios.
Information stored locally may remain on your device until you delete it, clear the App's data, uninstall the App, or otherwise remove it using the functionality provided by Vanik or Android.
Vanik provides an optional backup and restore feature using Google Drive.
Vanik requests the Google Drive application-data storage scope and stores Vanik backups in Google's application-specific appDataFolder.
Vanik does not request broad access to your normal Google Drive documents, spreadsheets, photos, or other personal Drive files.
When you choose to create a cloud backup, Vanik exports the supported local business data in memory and encrypts the backup before upload. The encrypted backup is then uploaded to Google Drive's application-specific storage.
Vanik's current backup encryption uses AES-256-GCM with a key derived using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 and your Vanik Security PIN.
The backup upload does not contain the raw SQLite database and does not upload the plaintext JSON backup.
Depending on the current App version, backup data may include:
FCM notification tokens, advertising identifiers, analytics identifiers, Crashlytics diagnostic identifiers, Google access tokens, and other authentication secrets are not included in Vanik's normal business backup data.
Google authentication may be required when you use the Drive backup functionality.
As part of that authentication, Google may provide Vanik with account information such as the Google account email address or account identifier needed to authorize the requested Drive functionality. Vanik does not receive your Google account password.
Google Drive and Google authentication are third-party services and are subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
You can manage and delete Vanik backups using the backup functionality provided by the App.
Uninstalling Vanik or deleting local App data does not necessarily delete an existing backup stored in Google Drive's application data storage.
The current Vanik build does not request camera, contacts, location, or broad device-storage permissions.
Where a feature allows you to create or select a file or image using Android's supported system functionality, Vanik processes only the content required for the feature you choose to use.
Vanik may create temporary PDF, CSV, or image files for user-initiated export and sharing. These files are stored in the App's internal cache area and are shared through Android's FileProvider/system sharing mechanisms.
Vanik does not automatically upload these exported files to its own servers.
Vanik can generate receipts and other print output for compatible printing workflows. The current printing implementation uses Android's local printing functionality and does not send print data to servers operated by Mr Rhino Studios.
Vanik may allow you to share PDFs, CSV files, images, statements, receipts, or other generated content using Android's system share functionality.
When you explicitly choose another application such as WhatsApp, Gmail, Files, or another installed application, the information you choose to share is provided to that application. That application's handling of the information is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
Vanik does not automatically send your generated exports to those applications.
Vanik may use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and Android notifications to deliver supported notifications, reminders, service messages, and other application notifications.
The App may receive and store an FCM registration token on the device as required for notification functionality.
Vanik does not intentionally send the FCM registration token to Analytics, Crashlytics, its own servers, or ordinary Vanik backups.
Notification content may depend on the feature and message being delivered. You can control notification permissions through your Android device settings.
Vanik displays advertisements using Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect or process information needed to deliver, measure, personalize, secure, and troubleshoot advertising.
Depending on your device, location, configuration, consent status, and applicable law, information processed by AdMob may include:
Vanik does not intentionally provide your ordinary bookkeeping records, customer ledger entries, invoice contents, transaction amounts, inventory records, or GSTIN to advertisers for the purpose of serving advertisements.
Advertising-related information may be processed directly by Google through the Google Mobile Ads SDK and is subject to Google's privacy and advertising policies.
Vanik uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage applicable advertising and consent choices.
Google Consent Mode is enabled for Vanik's advertising and analytics integrations. UMP is used to interpret applicable consent choices for the Google Consent Mode signals used by the integrated Google services.
Depending on your location and applicable legal requirements, Vanik may display a consent or privacy-choice message before certain advertising or related processing occurs.
Where applicable, Vanik presents Google consent messaging for users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland and respects the choices provided through the available consent interface.
Depending on the user's choices, certain advertising or analytics processing may be limited, denied, or permitted as supported by Google's Consent Mode and applicable consent configuration.
Where applicable to the user's location and legal requirements, Vanik may use Google's privacy messaging and privacy-choice mechanisms for U.S. state privacy regulations, including applicable opt-out choices concerning advertising-related processing.
Where the App provides the applicable privacy-options entry point, you can review or change your advertising/privacy choices through the Ad Privacy & Consent Choices functionality in Vanik.
The precise choices presented may vary according to your location, applicable law, Google's requirements, and the consent configuration applicable to your device.
Vanik uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand general application usage and improve the application's functionality and stability.
Depending on the applicable consent state and Google Consent Mode configuration, Analytics may process information such as:
Vanik's current Analytics implementation does not intentionally send customer names, customer phone numbers, ledger balances, transaction amounts, invoice contents, inventory records, GSTIN, or other ordinary bookkeeping records to Firebase Analytics.
Vanik also does not intentionally send FCM registration-token values or token-derived strings to Analytics.
Where applicable, Google Consent Mode controls the consent state used by Google Analytics. UMP and Google Consent Mode are used to respect applicable consent choices.
Firebase Privacy Documentation
Vanik uses Firebase Crashlytics to identify and diagnose application crashes and technical problems.
Depending on the circumstances, Crashlytics may process information such as:
Vanik's current implementation does not intentionally send customer names, customer phone numbers, ledger transactions, invoice details, inventory records, GSTIN, or ordinary financial records to Crashlytics.
FCM registration tokens are not sent to Crashlytics.
Vanik may use Firebase Remote Config to retrieve application configuration, feature settings, and other configuration values.
Remote Config may process limited technical information associated with the application and device, such as application version, operating-system information, language, and related configuration information.
Vanik does not use Remote Config to upload customer ledgers, invoices, inventory records, or other ordinary bookkeeping records.
Vanik uses Google Play services and related Google platform services for functionality that may include:
The processing performed by Google Play services is subject to Google's applicable privacy policies and service terms.
Vanik may use the Android Text-to-Speech service to read selected text or calculations aloud.
Vanik itself does not upload the spoken text to servers operated by Mr Rhino Studios. The actual processing behavior of the installed Android Text-to-Speech engine may depend on the device, Android version, installed speech engine, and the user's device configuration.
Information handled by Vanik and its supporting services may be used to:
Mr Rhino Studios does not operate a backend server for storing your ordinary Vanik bookkeeping records.
Information may nevertheless be processed by third-party services integrated into Vanik where required to provide a feature or service.
Depending on the features you use, Google services may process:
Google processes such information under Google's applicable policies and terms.
When you explicitly share or export content to another application, such as WhatsApp, Gmail, or another installed app, that application may receive the information you chose to share. Such processing is governed by that application's own terms and privacy policy.
Mr Rhino Studios does not sell your ordinary bookkeeping records, customer ledger information, invoices, inventory records, or transaction details for monetary consideration.
The presence of advertising in Vanik does not mean that Mr Rhino Studios sells your bookkeeping records to advertisers.
Third-party providers such as Google may independently process advertising, diagnostic, analytics, device, or technical information as described in this Privacy Policy and their own policies.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information handled by Vanik.
In particular:
No software, device, storage mechanism, or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for protecting your device, Security PIN, Google account, and any other credentials used with Vanik.
Business and bookkeeping information stored locally by Vanik generally remains on your device until you delete it, clear application data, uninstall the App, or otherwise remove it.
Encrypted Vanik backups stored in Google Drive's application-specific storage may remain there until you delete them using Vanik's backup management functionality or until they are otherwise removed through applicable Google Drive mechanisms.
Information processed by Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Google Play services, and related Google services may be retained according to the respective provider's policies, technical requirements, and legal obligations.
Mr Rhino Studios does not independently maintain a server-side database of your ordinary Vanik bookkeeping records.
Vanik provides functionality for managing and deleting locally stored business information.
Depending on the feature and version of the App, you may delete:
You may also remove locally stored Vanik data through Android's application settings.
Temporary exported files created for sharing are stored in the App's cache area and may remain until removed by the App, Android, or the operating system's cache-management behavior.
Google Drive backups are separate from local App data. Deleting local information or uninstalling Vanik does not automatically mean that a previously created Google Drive backup has been deleted.
Data processed by Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Google Play services, and other third parties is subject to the deletion and retention mechanisms applicable to those services.
Vanik's core offline bookkeeping functionality does not require you to create a separate Vanik account.
Google authentication may be used when you choose Google Drive backup. Any Google account information processed for that purpose is handled as part of the Google authentication and Drive integration described in this Privacy Policy.
Vanik is a business and bookkeeping application and is not directed toward children.
We do not knowingly use Vanik to collect personal information from children for purposes unrelated to the intended business functionality of the App.
Depending on where you live and the laws applicable to you, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights relating to access, correction, deletion, objection, withdrawal of consent, or privacy choices regarding certain processing.
Because much of Vanik's core business data is stored locally on your device, many deletion actions can be performed directly by you in the App or through Android device settings.
For advertising and consent choices supported by Google UMP, you may use the App's Ad Privacy & Consent Choices entry point where available.
If you have a privacy request or concern that cannot be addressed through the App, please contact us using the details below.
We will review and respond to privacy-related requests in accordance with applicable law.
Google and other third-party service providers used by Vanik may process information in countries or regions outside your state, province, or country.
Such processing is subject to the applicable policies, contractual arrangements, technical safeguards, and legal requirements governing the relevant provider.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Vanik, our services, third-party integrations, advertising technology, technical practices, or applicable legal requirements.
When changes are made, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this page.
For significant changes, we may also provide additional notice through the App or another appropriate communication channel where reasonably practicable.
